The following main types of anodes can be distinguished:

Titanium with a Ruthenium Mixed Metal Oxide coating Production of hypo chlorite

Titanium with an Iridium Mixed Metal Oxide coating In highly acidic environments, such as
- Electro galvanising
- Anodising of Aluminium
- Recovery of metals
- Electro synthesis and membrane   processes
- Precious metal plating
- Reverse pulse Copper plating
- Tinplating
Titanium with a Platinum-Iridium Oxide coating Production of hypo chlorite
Seawater Electrolysis (anti-fouling)
Anodes based on Niobium or Tantalum High voltage applications or strongly corrosive electrolytes
Nickel electrodes Production of hydrogen
Boron-Doped-Diamond anodes Higher over-potential, amongst other for disinfection and Electro synthesis
